JOB SUMMARY
The Bartender is responsible for creating the overall guest experience, maintaining high standards of the operation in quality and service and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their visit. This role will service a high volume area with bar top gaming, casino cocktail service and dining tables. Responsibilities include organizing and maintaining proper appearance of the bar area, serving guests, taking orders, preparing drinks for bar and cocktail service, delivering food and drinks, and removing dinnerware from the table.
All employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner which demonstrates friendliness, initiative, professionalism, personal awareness and integrity while exercising confidentiality in the appropriate areas of their performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet everyone and promote positive guest relations by projecting a courteous, helpful attitude
- Share inventory/menu knowledge, accurately take orders, place orders in the POS system, prepare beverages and deliver all requested items to guests in a timely, efficient manner
- Maintain an updated knowledge of the brands of beer, wine, liquors and common cocktails/specialty drinks available for service as well as appropriate garnishes, glassware and current pricing
- Responsible for pouring beverage items and delivering food items ordered while ensuring quality and consistency
- Clear bar and/or tables of used items and dishes in a timely manner
- Adhere to proper alcohol/food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures, and maintain appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all beverage items
- Adhere to, enforce and practice all alcoholic beverage laws, policies, and regulations
- Provide accurate check to guest and ensure payment is made (cash, card or comp)
- Perform assigned opening duties to stock station with proper supply levels needed for the shift and closing side work to ensure a clean and safe station.
- Assume total responsibility for assigned section including cleanliness and organization
- Regularly provide information to Manager on Duty regarding guest reactions, comments, or problems that may arise and any safety/appearance concerns throughout the casino to ensure a quality and safe environment.
The ideal candidate will also be able to cover shifts as a Slot Attendant. Responsibilities include:
- Quickly respond to all jackpots for payment in assigned section and enthusiastically congratulate guests on their wins
- Clear slot machines of glassware, empty ashtrays, move ashtrays to proper spot on machine and push in chairs regularly
- Maintain working knowledge of slot games, marketing offerings and promotions to inform guests and answer questions
- Promote features of the players club and assist in slot promotions
- Identify machines that are not working properly and notify a Lead, Slot Technician and/or Manager on Duty
- Perform assigned opening duties to stock station with proper supplies and shift change side work to ensure a clean and safe station
- Assume total responsibility for assigned section including cleanliness and organization
- Adhere to, enforce and practice all relevant laws, policies, and regulations
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 21
- Previous restaurant, hospitality or beverage service experience required
- Must work independently as well as part of a team
- Maintain working knowledge of a service POS system, restaurant menus, cocktail recipes, beer/wine lists, etc.
- Ability to promote and sell
- Ability to lift, handle and carry (e.g. trays and equipment) a minimum of 25 pounds on a frequent basis
- Ability to work in confined spaces requiring walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and reaching overhead for extended periods of time
- Excellent people skills and ability to courteously and efficiently interact with fellow employees, management and guests to ensure a positive experience
- Must pay attention to detail including cleanliness and safety
- Ability to quickly and accurately calculate basic subtraction and addition
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and listen attentively
- Must follow verbal and written directions, policies, and procedures
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES
Must be able to obtain/maintain the following:
- Alcohol Awareness Training (employee cost = approximately $20 / renewed every 4 years)
- Nevada Gaming Control Board license (employee cost = approximately $140 / renewed every 5 years)
